We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out to see the world premiere of Echoes of the Sea last Sunday. The cast was blown away by the amount of support from the community surrounding Chillicothe and The Scioto Society. For many, this show was a dream come true and hundreds of hours went into bringing this show to where it was last Sunday. We hope that in the future we’ll get to remember this auspicious evening as just the beginning of something fantastic.

This group did an amazing job and I am so thankful for being able to work with them each season at Tecumseh Outdoor Drama & Concert Venue.

Meet the creators of our show⚔️

Writer and Director Caleb Dean Johnson
Composer and Music Director Kevin Snyder

After five years of working together as actors at Tecumseh Outdoor Drama, Echoes of the Sea marks Johnson and Snyders debut project as a writer/composer duo.

Caleb is from Illinois and received his BFA from Western Illinois University. He is a seasoned actor, with work in musicals as well as dramas. This show holds a special place in his heart, having had a love of pirates since a young age. He is beyond grateful for the opportunity to present this show to an audience and would like to thank his family, friends, and his fiancé Tessa for all the support and love for this show.

Kevin is a Colorado born actor, director and lifelong instrumentalist with a B.F.A. in Acting from Nebraska Wesleyan University and over 20 years of experience playing the piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele, as well as other various strings. He would like to thank everyone at Tecumseh for making the show possible, to all the actors who have helped to bring it to life, and to each audience member coming out to enjoy the show!

Meet the lead of our story, Roger Bonnet played by Jacob Romeo⚔️

Jacob Romeo recently graduated with his MFA from UCF after completing his professional internship at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, where he was last seen as Stuart in Stuart Little. Before that he was seen on the Orlando Shakes stage in A Christmas Carol as Fred, and Macduff in Macbeth on tour prior to that. Romeo returns from Orlando to Ohio, which is where he grew up, and which is not far from Berea Kentucky, where he earned a BA in theatre. His previous training also saw him study at the American Academy of the Dramatic Arts during a summer intensive program. Some favorite previous roles of his include: Urinetown (Bobby) at Berea College, and Metamorphoses (Midas) at Theatre UCF. Romeo is grateful to be here!

Mads is a North Carolina native and a Senior Musical Theatre major at Millikin University. This is her first summer with Tecumseh and she is so thankful to Caleb and Kevin for trusting her and allowing her this opportunity! Unlike her character, she loves pirates and has had such a fun time putting this show together.

Look Mates it’s Charles Drake played by Cory Fitzsimmions⚔️

This is Cory’s second season with Tecumseh, playing the role of William Henry Harrison. A Wisconsin native, he recently received his MFA in acting from the University of Houston. His favorite credits include: Lavatch (All’s Well That Ends Well), Jim Bayliss (All My Sons), Julius Caesar (Julius Caeser), Caliban (The Tempest), and Oedipus (Oedipus Rex).

Kane, originally from Chillicothe Ohio, rejoins the creative team of Tecumseh! for a second season, now as Chiksika/Chaubeenee and assistant equestrian. He is a recent graduate from Eastern Connecticut State University, earning a BS in both communications and Theatre. He’s enjoyed roles such as Billy Nolan (Carrie The Musical), Father (Eurydice), and Dr. Bradman (Blithe Spirit)

Yo Ho it’s O’Malley played by Axyl Langford⚔️

Axyl is from Owasso, Oklahoma, and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She is honored to have been cast in several of her favorite roles which include: Donna in Mamma Mia, Witch in Into the Woods and Proxi in Punk Rock Girl! At the age of twelve, Axyl had the privilege of singing the duet “For Good” with Kristen Chenoweth in concert. She also won best actress at the 2019 Discovery Awards and went on to perform in NYC at the Jimmy Awards. This is Axyl’s second year with Tecumseh! playing Tecumapese and is excited to back on the mountain!

Shiver me timbers it’s Captain Callis played by Ray Speakman⚔️

Ray is a 61 year resident of Ross County Ohio. In his 43 years at Tecumseh he’s played many characters on stage including the notorious Simon Kenton. He is currently the Technical Director for Tecumseh and is beyond thrilled to be making a return to the stage in this swashbuckling show. Ray’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, stage combat, archery, and spending time with his family. He is a former member of the Society of American Fight Directors as a certified actor/combatant. Ray would like to dedicate his accomplishments this season to his sons, Caleb and Lloyd.

This year marks Richard’s ninth season in Tecumseh and he’s honored to join the crew to don the captain’s hat once more! Currently playing Tompkins, he was most recently seen as Prof. Walden in Frankenstein. Lover of coffee and history, obsessed with cats and ghosts, he’s excited to tell this story with a great group of people.
