Our ladies group, the Namelok Ladies told us, “The word Namelok means “something sweet” in the Masai language.” In the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya, East Africa, the Namelok women’s group chose the name bec

ause they said, “Where God is, you will find something sweet.”

Through the provision of a microloan, the women started a soap-making business, providing affordable soap to their community and donating soap to local school children. While this soap was made in the USA, your purchase directly supports the Namelok women’s group and helps to start more groups like Namelok to empower vulnerable women and provide affordable, sustainable resources to prevent life-threatening diseases in rural indigenous communities in East Africa.

Back by popular demand, a tattoo by Kayley Slaughter is coming to the Harambee live auction!

Kayley has generously supported Foothold events since our very first gala in 2022, and we are grateful to welcome them back as a donor for Harambee 2026.

This year, Kayley is donating one small/medium tattoo, 3–5 inches, for arms or legs only. The tattoo featured in our graphic is the one Cherie Catron won at our spring imPossible Auction and Kayley created. It is a beautiful example of their detailed, personalized work.
