The stunning mountainside vistas of the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre provide the backdrop for America's Greatest Outdoor Drama...Tecumseh! Witness the epic life story of the legendary Shawnee leader as he struggles to defend his sacred homelands in the Ohio country during the late 1700's. The huge, outdoor stages of the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre afford the audience a unique viewing experi

ence. You will sit beneath the stars in the beautiful amphitheatre as sheer spectacle surrounds you with a herd of galloping horses, live military cannon in action, and the most dazzling battle sequences offered on the American stage. Often emulated within the outdoor drama industry, "Tecumseh!" continues to set the standard for innovative production techniques. Over 100 people are involved each summer in bringing this exciting drama to life. The sights and sounds of natural elements serve to heighten this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. The theater also hosts a number of concerts each summer and is the home of HAUNTED MOUNTAIN, the largest haunted attraction in Southeastern Ohio.

On this opening night, We are thinking of Arthur Rolette. A direct descendent of Tecumseh, Arthur was essential in establishing the show, giving it authenticity, and making sure that the memory of Tecumseh stays alive. Thanks to Arthur, and all the countless other members of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe who have supported this journey for all of these years.

Unto These Hills outdoor drama opens tonight at Mountainside Theatre!

Join us for opening night of the 2026 season of Unto These Hills. We've got an amazing, talented cast bringing you the story of the Cherokee people. From first contact with Europeans, through the removal west on the infamous Trail of Tears, Unto These Hills is full of drama, excitement, and special effects. This unique experience in Cherokee, NC is sure to be an unforgettable evening for the entire family

Gates open at 7pm and pre-show entertainment begins at 7:30pm. The show begins at 8pm and runs approximately 2 hours. Tickets are available at the door, or you can book in advance at CherokeeHistorical.org. See you tonight!
