RE-THINKING FUTURE MYTHOLOGY
"We are what we consume"
"What we think, we become"
I have been mulling this over for longer than I think.. as variations of these quotes have rattled around inside my head since before i could really understand what they meant... after a rough inner journey of clawing myself out of depression, self doubt, self hate ....I started subconsiously asking myself "Why are there no real depictions of a Matriarchy (in the stories we consume)?" Then I began to ask others.. i was met Excuses, Missing the points, Not sures, Don't cares... the question morphed into "Why Hierarchy?" (With heavy doses of "What IS hierarchy?").... and more recently that has shifted into a definitive "COMPOST HIERARCHAL THOUGHT" ... But how?
The itchy icky feeling I get with the media we create and consume today is simply ....
That ALL contain Hierarchy and hierarchal thinking at their root and in their depiction...
Pulling from my opening quotes...
Simply - we are manifesting our current hellscape.
They in a sort of brilliance in confronting and depicting our current "normal" in stories - showing the ugly, the dark, the violent.... the "evil"
No stories showing what a future challenging and reaching past hierarchal thinking would actually look like. Its as if even those visionaries that stive for that still find their stories infected by the disease that is hierarchal thinking.
This isnt me judging them - it is me seeing this disease for what it is. It is not arogance for me to say that give me any story and i will find its diseased parts - it's craptastic borrowing and twisting of an even older story that not hierarchal at it's inception.
(In ALL languages and cultures unfortunately)
All of these are fancy words to say -
"WE ARE WHAT WE CONSUME - WHAT WE THINK IS WHAT WE BECOME".....
So why are we still envisioning the world of hierarchy and feeding ourselves and others that disease...?
I am putting together an Anthology of Re-thinking Future Mythology of OUR world, focused on how the world would function and look with [Matri-organized] interconnected [Re-feraled] structure.
