Our Sacramento-area friends, Sinfonia Spirituosa, are presenting their final concert of the season next weekend!

Performing "Dardanus" by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683 – 1764), they'll be joined by tenor Sam Faustine, bass-baritone Daniel Yoder, and dancers from the Sacramento Ballet.

Concerts take place Saturday, May 16 at 4pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Sacramento, and on Sunday, May 17 at 4pm at St Martin's Episcopal Church in Davis. Tickets are available online at the link below or at the door 🎶

Experience the rarely-heard ottavino, clavichord and other unique keyboard instruments in performances by Abigail Mace and friends.

Works of Girolamo Frescobaldi, Claudio Merulo, Johann Jakob Froberger, Dietrich Buxtehude, and J. S. Bach explore the virtuosic “stylus phantasticus” or “fantastic style!”

We're spending the day tuning, practicing, and tuning some more in preparation for tomorrow's concert!

Carefully Managed Expectations: A Harpsichord & Organ Recital will take place Saturday February 7 at 1pm at St John's Episcopal Church on Floral Avenue in Chico. Featuring Dr. Jeffrey Cooper on harpsichord and organ, with special guests Umran Haji (harpsichord) and Anna Cooper (soprano), this concert will showcase works for keyboard by baroque composers François Couperin, Claude Balbastre, Henry Purcell, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Georg Böhm.

This concert is free, in thanks for the great support we've received over these few seasons! Donations of any amount at the door are welcome 🎶

Meet our Artistic Director and soloist for Saturday's concert!

Dr. Jeffrey Cooper is an organist, harpsichordist, and choir director. Besides giving numerous solo recitals on notable organs, he has played continuo harpsichord and organ in productions of Bach cantatas and Handel operas and oratorios, including Agrippina with Houston’s Baroque ensemble Ars Lyrica.

Originally from San Jose, Dr. Cooper studied with Robert Bates and Matthew Dirst at the University of Houston, Craig Cramer and Delbert Disselhorst at the University of Notre Dame, and David Rothe at CSU, Chico. He currently serves as music director at St John's Episcopal Church in Chico, and teaches piano at Butte Community College.

Dr. Cooper will be the featured musician for Carefully Managed Expectations: A Harpsichord & Organ Recital. The concert takes place Saturday, February 7 at 1pm at St John's Episcopal Church on Floral Avenue in Chico. Admission is free; donations are welcome!

Our next concert will be Saturday, February 7 - a Harpsichord and Organ Recital of Carefully Managed Expectations, featuring Dr. Jeffrey Cooper and friends. We'll be back at the lovely St John's Episcopal Church in Chico. The concert begins at 1pm - no tickets this time, just "pay what you can" at the door!

Our winter concert will highlight the harpsichord and organ, with music by François and Louis Couperin, Claude Balbastre, Georg Böhm, and Henry Purcell, featuring Dr. Jeffrey Cooper and special guests. More details coming soon!
