The ‘Andy Warhol Presents: The Co***ne Play’ Team Presents: the fashionable and forthright Madeleine! Madeleine (she/her) is a costume designer and technician whose most recent design credits include Here Be Sirens (Chicago Fringe Opera), Night, Mother (Redtwist) and The Pets (Bramble Theatre). She is a lay-medievalist and an expert in the esoteric. Hire her to design your cult’s ceremonial robes.
From Madeleine on Andy Warhol: “I’m the most excited/scared about dressing Marilyn Monroe. She’s iconic, literally, and images of her are so ingrained into our collective cultural imagination that you carry a lot of baggage with you when you depict her. You have to address Marilyn the symbol as much as you do the person herself. She plays a really interesting role in the story and it’s exciting to be so responsible for the way she fits in the frame onstage (again, literally). I can only hope I do her justice!”

We’re pretty we’ve grasped your attention by now…
All we’re wondering is, have you gotten your tickets yet?!

The ‘Andy Warhol Presents: The Co***ne Play’ Team Presents: the essential and easygoing Stevie! Stephanie “Stevie” Mattos (she/her; Fight/Firearms Coordinator) is an actor, fight director and combatant in Chicago and a member of the Society of American Fight Directors. BFA in Performance Arts - Acting, Western Kentucky University. Credits include: Black Cypress Bayou (Definition Theatre), A Lie of the Mind (Fight Director), Gorgeous (Fight Director), OAK and The Prodigal Daughter (Raven Theatre); Notes from the Field (TimeLine Theatre Co.)The Duchess of Malfi (Asst. Fight Director, Babes with Blades Theatre Co.), Last Night and the Night Before (Steppenwolf), Marys Seacole (Griffin Theatre Co.), Light Falls (Steep Theatre). Regional: Reentry (Montana Repertory Theatre). TV: The Chi. Film: Rent’s Due (Fight Coordinator). Commercial: Salesforce. Represented by Big Mouth Talent. Ensemble member of Midsommer Flight. (Check out more about her at www.stephaniemattos.com or on IG: asmattering)
As each character is full and perceptive, Stevie finds focus on one of the play’s theme: Obsession. That weird primordial desire to do the thing one feels they’re designed for; the dark jealousy that all artists have a little bit and what happens if they feed it! “The secret desire for fame but also the gilded cage that it is! ooh! i love this show! IT STRESSES ME OUT IN A GOOD WAY.” 😉 Stevie can’t tell her most favortist part in the play, because it’s a spoiler so just come and gasp with us, but she does want you to know that this is a show that requires her department to work with a bunch of other departments in ways that they usually don’t get to in a chicago storefront space ( ?) which is always exciting because it makes Stevie feel like a stunt coordinator on a bond film - “it’s all testing and science and a LOT of me making a mess in my kitchen. thematically, excited to explore how love turns to hate when people betray us! i just love it when a show’s a good mess. let’s be messy!” If you don’t take our word for it, take Stevie’s and cop those tickets before it’s too late! 📢📢

Spencer Diaz Tootle enjoys making props, plays and people squirm. She’s a Governing Ensemble member with and one half of the producing duo which platforms q***r Latine talent here in Chicago. She’s a Libra Sun, Aries moon, Capricorn rising - and if you want to read a full bio, come to the show. Spencer says: All of the characters in this play are so compelling. I can find pieces of myself in each of them, whether I like it or not! Something I find refreshingly resonant is Marilyn’s experience of feeling strangled by the beauty standard in our NASTY (racist, ageist, misogynist, ableist, transphobic, etc) society, even as she is an active arbiter of her own experience: melding herself to both meet and define that standard. Does she have agency or doesn’t she? Being made to feel like a hyper-visible object who WILL be chewed up and eventually spat out (hello to my gray hair), while also holding the knowledge that I’m a conventionally ~beautiful person who experiences looks-based privileges in this twisted world is a double-edged sword I’ve been unfortunately grappling with since puberty (and really, before that). Terry explores this tension with visceral clarity. When do I ENJOY the competition of the beauty standard? 🤢 When am I perceived against my will? When am I on some bu****it? Yes I’m comparing myself to Marilyn Monroe - but more importantly to Alexis Ward who is acting DOWN. Which brings me to the next question: What am I most excited about besides props? THE PERFORMANCES!! These actors are fierce beyond belief and I am so thrilled to witness their brilliance as they bring this story to thrilling, dizzying, sparkling life!!!!! Every single designer is also a genius (like, literally it’s so gaggy) and our stage management team is graceful and sharp and perfect. Projects like THIS are why I’m a theatre maker 🥲
Like why you’ve read? THEN WHY HAVEN’T YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKET YET?! (🔗 in bio!)
