A heartfelt thank you to the Chicago Fire Department, CFD Chief Meziere, the Black Fire Brigade, , CPD Officer Loughney, the 4th District Police Department, and Kelly Powell/KP Staffing for helping make our Juneteenth Community Celebration at the Avalon Regal Theater a tremendous success.

Your commitment to bringing together our youth, families, first responders, and community leaders created an afternoon filled with unity, education, inspiration, and fun. Events like these remind us of the power of community partnerships and what can happen when we invest in our young people.

Special thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported this important celebration of freedom, culture, and community. Together, we continue building a brighter future for Chicago’s South Side.

Happy Juneteenth to all our African American siblings who fought back, still fight back, and also bring smilies, light, and hope to our country and our world.

Proud to stand with Regal Theatre’s effort to preserve a locally owned theater and provide opportunities for cultural enrichment for Chicago’s beloved young people. Thank you to Jerald Gary and his team for sharing his vision for the community, DJ international records, Rob Debonnett, the Black Fire Brigade, and all local artists and community. We come together to celebrate Juneteenth and are committed to continue to celebrate the advancements of the Black liberation movement, that has uplifted the constitutional principles of justice for all, to be truly for all people.

This initiative is a collaboration with the SUBCO block club organization, which received five planters through a generous donation. Unfortunately, the plants were removed and vandalized. The sculptures in this project aim to educate, sustain, and beautify our neighborhood as the community becomes more accustomed to caring for live plants.

sponsored the new murals on 79th Street, including “Culture is Power” and the mural that was previously on the old Leon’s building. They also funded this work of mosaic artist and that now proudly sits in front of the Avalon Regal Theater 🌟 Thank you for holding space for beauty in our community!
