“Jungle of the Mind” is ready to be stretched onto cross-bars so I can hang it in an upcoming show.

I painted this one with reckless abandon, as I often do. But I truly spent hours and hours just layering, cutting papers, collaging, until I called it done.

I love making chaos on the canvas and then building dimension and interest with outlines. Lots and lots and lots of layered outlines.

Very graffiti, disjointed, edgy type stuff coming out lately. People tell me my art is very energetic. Like a burst of color and energy.

It makes sense that’s what people read in my art. Because that’s often the energy I’m alchemizing when making it.

Delivered and installed Mosaic Tide this afternoon to a gorgeous flat in Lakeview East. Then took myself on a lake walk which happened to be during golden hour, my favorite hour.

🔴 SOLD - Mosaic Tide has sold to local Chicago collectors who discovered my art at the recent open house event.

I’m always excited to meet collectors in person. It gives me the opportunity to talk to them about the piece, what they like about it, what it reminds them of.

They said that it reminded them of Monet’s Water Lilies and honestly, what a compliment! Now it gives me another excuse to go see it again at the Chicago Art Institute. 😍

I paint with intuition, so I don’t use reference images. I usually start with a color palette in mind but even then it can vary completely how a piece turns out. My style is very impressionist/surrealist, so I can see how it likens to Monet’s work.

Original art is just that. Original, one-of-a-kind. My influences are many, but nature and daily life experiences of city life are huge sources of inspo for me.

Thanks again and look forward to hand-delivering this piece to its adoptive home in Lakeview tomorrow. Really appreciate the support!

📣 Open Studios this Friday, Oct 2nd for Hubbard Street Lofts bi-annual Open House.

📍1821 W Hubbard hosts a variety of small creative businesses that will be open late, 6-10pm.

📍Fulton Street Collective will be celebrating the opening of “Black, White, and Gray” exhibit.

This show brings together a curated collection of contemporary works executed entirely in black, white, and the infinite terrain of gray.

I have a piece in this opening show and will also have my studio open which includes all of my available artwork. Other artists will have their studios open too.

It will a big celebration of local art you won’t wanna miss.
