We're fundraising!
For the past few semesters, The Xtension Chords have been working toward one big goal: owning our own professional sound system.
Two years ago, we launched our first GoFundMe and we raised over $1700. Thank you to everyone who supported us during that campaign! Your generosity helped us take our first step toward this goal. Since then, we've continued performing gigs around campus and raising funds whenever we can. Most recently, we were approved for funding for a digital mixer and PA speakers, which is a huge step forward for us.
Even more exciting, this year we officially obtained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, allowing us to give back to our community through performance. This also means all donations are now tax-deductible.
We’re now hosting a new virtual fundraiser through Zeffy, a platform made for nonprofits. Every donor receives a tax receipt.
By the start of February, we’ll have:
- 16 wireless microphones
- A digital mixer
- PA speakers
To complete our system, we still need:
- Floor monitors
- A flight case for our mics
- Cables and snakes
- A rack case
- Other accessories
These remaining items total about $3,000.
Looking further ahead, our long-term goal is to invest in new professional-grade microphones to ensure the highest sound quality and longevity for years to come. This is a major investment, around $14,000, but one we are excited to keep working toward.
Right now, we rent a sound system for every major concert, which adds up fast. Having our own system would mean:
- Lower long-term costs
- Better sound
- More opportunities to perform and give back
