Water and Salt II addresses the public ownership of female bodies. By performing in multiple public spaces in Downtown Chicago, the artist sparks dialogue about this omnipresent yet invisible struggle. The artist's primary material is the female body and the used underwear. Sometimes washing the material with salt other times serving up the underwear for consumption, the artist addresses the shame and secrecy associated with female sexuality. By repeating variations of the performance over a period of 7 days the artist hopes to uncover the various taboos of female bodies, ranging from the invisiblity and denial of natural biological process from urination, defecation, menstruation to arousal and the resultant lubrication.
