On her 15th birthday, Jisun, a North Korean girl, decides to sell herself to an old man to buy medicine for her dying mother. After risking her life crossing into China, she learns her body is considered worthless. Will she survive in a merciless foreign land where her very existence is illegal?

A sold-out hit at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and performed at the U.S. Capitol Center, this powerful, fast-paced solo piece is inspired by the true stories of courageous North Korean women defectors.

June 4-6, APOCALIPSYNC by Luciano Rosso (Argentina, France) offers a reflection on isolation, creativity, and a cartoon-like view of our contemporary world.

★★★★ " there is a Ru Paul’s Drag Race vibe when Rosso lip-syncs to Mariah Carey’s Emotions. Without a hint of make-up or glamour, he holds us in the palm of his hand as he sashays around the stage and ‘hits’ those incredible high notes."

-Kelly Apter, The Scotsman

Coming from PTF June 4-6, Los Regalos / The Gifts by CompaĂąia de Teatro FĂsico (Peru) is simply breathtaking: https://theaterwit.org/tickets/productions/576/performances

A father and his two sons live in a house. The most routine tasks, such as preparing breakfast, bathing, or housework turn into real adventures when tackled by three inexperienced men and their fear of not knowing what they are doing. The journey that the elder brother needs to make in order to leave home, and the fear of saying goodbye to the ones we love, will be the starting point of our story. Los Regalos / The Gifts will be performed at The Dance Center at Columbia College.

June 3, 6, & 7th we've got Beau and Aero, an acrobatic, slapstick, latex-heavy comedy featuring two incompetent aviators on their quest for flight. It’s like Charlie Chaplin meets Amelia Earhardt. Whether or not these bumbling aeronauts Beau & Aero will make your spirits soar.

Join us for Made in Chicago! Physical Theatre Festival presents two local artists or companies up to 40 minutes each to showcase new work developed from pieces previously presented at Scratch Night.

This year's lineup:
MATADORA (W.I.P) is a devised choreographic work by INSÉKTA that begins with the question: what does rage look like in the body? The work traces the emergence and mutation of suppressed Latiné rage — a force of dignity, agency, and self-possession.
WHAT’S THE NEW F-WORD YOU CREATED?
Let’s just say: LegLand’s The New F-Word is a show about fog. The New F-Word is a fusion of comedic discomfort & exaggerated theatrical moodiness to ask our audience “What’s really so cool about sitting in a smokey room anyway?”

Performances of MATADORA (W.I.P) + The New F Word will be at Theater Wit June 2!

“Eelpout! is such a delightfully wacky story” says Mara Tapp and honestly, we take that compliment with so much pride! 🐟

EELPOUT! is a hilarious, surreal world premiere by Paul W. Kruse, directed by Jeremy Ohringer, and it’s unlike anything else on stage this spring.
