Class Info:
This class will build the fundamental skills of Clowning. But what is Clowning? Clowns are forever optimistic, physically alive, ferociously honest, and deeply connected to themselves, the audience, and the moment.
Through improvised exercises, students will:
- Deepen their authentic voice to unlock a greater variety in their performance
- Practice emotional openness and complete honesty
- Embrace failure and develop the ability to push through to find success
- Build connection to collaborate with the audience
- Use their body/physicality for comedy and beauty
This toolkit is useful to improve any performance: acting, improvising, doing stand up, dancing, etc.
The material will be 100% accessible to complete newbies while still being enriching for experienced Clowns. That may sound like a contradiction, but then again Clowns live in contradiction, being stupidly brilliant, confidently self-conscious, quietly loud, and loudly quiet.
Dates: Saturdays, April 18th - May 30th
