Hello, my name is Destiny and I'm the owner and photographer for DM Photography. According to my mom, I've had a passion for photography my whole life. She tells me that when I was little I would run around with a little pink Barbie camera taking pictures of things. I started getting really serious about it in High School, though. I knew I loved photography, but I read articles on Google (yes, tho

se dreadful articles you read because of curiosity.. that never actually give you the answers you’re looking for) that photography was best left as a hobby.. but I realized that no matter what online articles on Google said, it was my passion. My dream from the beginning was to become a professional photographer/photojournalist for National Geographic, and it is again my dream.. but now it’s starting to become a reality. I'm not sure I'll make it to NatGeo, but I would love to one day have my own magazine. I want to spread awareness around the world about things that are going on in different countries, and of places/people/cultures that are in need. I want to do missions with my photography, while spreading the word of Christ! In 2013 I traveled to Haiti and was able to photograph children receiving rice meals for their families, and it changed my life. That's when I realized photojournalism was my calling. I've recently been given an opportunity to go to Africa to do photojournalism work, and I'm extremely excited (https://www.gofundme.com/destinytoafrica). If you have any questions about this, or about my work, please let me know. I'd love to hear your feedback or advice, and I'd love to return the favor! I have created this Facebook to share some of my work, and I hope all who stumble upon it enjoy it. For now, what you'll mainly find here are the beautiful moments of weddings, engagements, families, babies, animals, nature, etc. I haven't kept up to date with this because it's just easier for me to post onto 500px and my main account, but that's changing and I am getting this page to how I want it! If you're interested in hiring me as your photographer, feel free to contact me. Have a look at my work on 500px by visiting the link here, and message me anytime. Thanks for stopping by!

Anyone else see the hidden 🦉 in this tree?? As I was walking back to my car before the rain started, I saw this and immediately had to get a picture. How cool!! It was just part of the tree design!

Some favorites from the other day. I visited the park and didn’t take one picture of a squirrel 🤯 I focused on details and plants instead, and it was a fun change. Stay tuned for some more 🙂

Spring Break has been full of some much needed fresh air, and a few visits to my favorite place. This park always brings a smile to my face the moment I drive through the entrance.

Wow, it has been a while since I’ve posted on here. It was a crazy year, that’s for sure. I hope to get into the parks more this summer and to keep things more updated going forward. This shot is from one of my favorite parks close to home in Florida.

A female Inca Tern that was super curious and interested in my camera lens. I call these birds “mustache birds” because the males have bright red/orange beaks and a long white mustache. They’re beautiful! The females are also super pretty though.

I get it buddy. Monday’s make me feel the same 😂

Whenever I go to the zoo, I spend a good amount of time watching the orangutans because their expressions are just the best! This little one was being a little too energetic for his moms liking, and right after this she went over to him and made him stop playing around. I think he was upset he had to stop.
It’s a bucket list dream of mine to photograph these beautiful animals in the wild. To see them living life free and happy.

What’s your favorite animal?

This is where it all started for me. I have always had a passion for photography, for as long as I can remember. I had a little pink Barbie camera growing up (thankfully I have since upgraded a bit 😉), and in high school I took things a step further and took a photography class. I can still remember my teacher saying to me that my dream was too big, that it would never happen. And I can remember the expression she had when she told me that. Things like that stick, you know? But I didn’t let her discouragement bring be down because I believed in myself, and my amazing mom believed in me and encouraged me to never give up, and I knew my dream could come true if I kept that positive attitude and kept going. My dream was to become a professional photojournalist with , to use my images to tell stories/spread awareness of issues around the world, and although I may not work for National Geographic my dream has still come true because I never gave up. I know God has gifted me with this desire and ability to share beauty, and true raw emotion and life through my work. I’m blessed to have used my work in over 6 countries with a few different organizations so far, to have had an image recognized by , and most of all I am SO thankful for the people I have met along the way. I have friends all around the world now that I consider my overseas family, and I am so thankful to God for bringing us together.

This image here is from my very first mission trip back in May 2013. Almost exactly to this day, 6 years ago. How cool is that! This little boy, so financially poor yet so full of joy, changed my life. I never thought I wanted to photograph people, because you see people everyday right? But you don’t see the places they’re in, and you don’t hear their stories. Would you have guessed that this little boy (along with nearly 200 other children) walked MILES that morning - and even crossed a river - in order to come to our area just to get a bag of rice to take back to his family? The joy he had in the midst of his circumstances is what really struck me. How do I have anything to complain about? How can I take anything for granted?

Each day is truly a gift.
