Rest in Peace to the great theater critic Tony Adler. To understand his importance to Oobleck and the Chicago theater scene, please read this Chicago Reader obituary (which includes quotes from Mickle Maher and our colleagues at Lookingglass Theatre Company and Theatre Y). Our condolences to Beth, Max, Emmett, and the whole family.

The longtime Reader editor and critic championed fringe artists and played a significant role in the growth of Chicago theater.

Congratulations to Oobleck founding member Mickle Maher and to Jean Claudio- (who appeared in Oobleck's "A Memory Palace of Fear," "Apocalypse Cabaret," and "Midterm Election Cabaret") for their wins at the Equity Jeff Awards last night! Mickle won as the playwright for New Work, and his "Berlin" at the Court Theatre swept its category: Best Play, Best Ensemble, Best Director. Jean Claudio won as best solo performer, for "Memorabilia" at Teatro Vista.

Six years since our sweet Danny's passing. Here he is as "Congressman" in our 1985 production of "Three of Whom" (back when we lived in Ann Arbor and called ourselves Street Light Theater).

Previews start Saturday. Opening is April 26th. You will not want to miss Mickle Maher's adaptation of Jason Lutes' graphic novel "Berlin" at the Court Theatre. Read all about it here in Chicago Magazine.

Two theater veterans forge their own artistic path by freely adapting the Jason Lutes novel for Court Theatre.

Tell all your persons in Tucson... something wicked this way comes!

We are less than two weeks away from the fourth play in our MacFestival, It is Magic!

From the brilliantly twisted mind of Mickle Maher (There is A Happiness That Morning Is) comes a new dark comedy that challenges the limits of the theatre’s magic while mashing up the curse of the audition, The Three Little Pigs and, curiously enough, Macbeth. At a community theatre audition for a new ‘adult adaptation’ of the Three Little Pigs, two sisters set out to search for an actor to play the role of the Wolf. As they struggle to cast the right actor, they are quickly confronted with the darkness inside the audition room– and themselves.

Note: This play is site-specific and some performances will be held in the basement of the Historic Y. It is only accessible via stairs. If mobility accessibility is a factor for you please pick up a ticket for April 20th and join us in our ADA friendly studio instead.

Throwback Thursday. That was once a thing. So for no particular reason at all, here's a review of Jeff Dorchen's first full-length play, from 39 years ago, back when we were in Ann Arbor and were called Streetlight Theater.
