I appeared in ‘Nobody Here’. I interviewed for it when I was doing my Mayonaka no Tour ‘23 in Europe. Enzo Van Baelen and Christian Britten treated me extremely kindly. Seriously, some of the coolest people. The day we shot I had just landed in London from Chicago with little sleep, disoriented, and having never been to the UK I was in awe of just being there.

It was a very warm late Summer (I think?) and I was dehydrated from hauling my crate of records around the tube and then using transit to get to Hackney Wick, where the bar was set for the recording. Alex, my only guide, thankfully ushered me where I needed to be because if not then I’d have been even more dazed and confused than I already was.

Somehow I managed to speak enough words in my cooked state, but I was utterly fried from the shuffle. It felt like a blur, and I forgot most of what I even said. Thankfully, the film crew were more than forgiving and made it as seamless as possible. We had a few laughs and it was genuinely a crazy introduction to London.

I’m only featured in 3 short clips, but that was more than enough for me. I had always been an outsider in that scene but always maintained some degree of involvement somehow by writing, DJing, and sometimes, reckless provocation. I owe my career in City Pop to Vaporwave, so I am sincerely honored to be cemented into history with it.

In-depth article will be posted on my website soon.
