Chicago's assembly was the first club established by the then-new National President Harry Houdini in 1917. Assembly 3 meets the first Monday of each month. Discover the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.), the oldest fraternal organization for magicians in the world. It is open to professional performers and hobbyists alike, as well as magical historians and collectors of books and apparatus.

Chicago Assembly No. 3 was, as the name implies, only the third regional club to be established by the S.A.M., whose assemblies now number in the hundreds. It was also the first club established by the then-new National President of the organization, Harry Houdini. In 1917, he signed Assembly Number Three's charter into existence, and that charter and this club continue to provide Chicago magicians with a connection to each other and to our past.
