Celebrate the artists making The Tragedy of King Christophe happen!

Meet Michelle Lilly, our Scenic Designer!

Michelle Lilly (she/her) is a Chicago-based designer with a background in theatrical design. Her work includes set designs for local and regional theatres, immersive game design, designed environments for live events, model making, and interior design. Michelle has collaborated with The Alinea Group, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Writer’s Theatre, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Timeline Theatre, Jedlicka Performing Arts Center, New Leaf Theatre, TUTA, Emerald City Theatre, Lifeline Theatre, A Red Orchid, Northwestern University, Grinnell College, Wheaton College, Oakton Community College, UIC, the Springfield Theatre Center and The Springfield Muni. Michelle is a co-founder of Brass Ink Studio. Get to know the cast of THE TRAGEDY OF KING CHRISTOPHE!

What are you most excited about?

"I'm excited to step into this piece of history, to shine some light on Haiti and its greatness. I'm excited to learn about it I'm excited to share it. I'm excited to build on my own knowledge of our ancestors. From stories of Jean Baptiste Point du Sable to Bass Reeves to Fannie Lou Hamer and Nandi of the Zulu Kingdom! These stories of black achievement and greatness of black heroes and leaders. I want more of them of our history to spread and be as well known as King Louis or Napoleon Bonaparte."
