#6 - A (Greek) Tragedy 🎭
By Athena Marie
For: Terrence Rizzo
Hello depression my old friend,
This relationship must come to an end.
Why must you tempt me?
Please, I'm begging you...just let me be.
They whisper, "Why?
We both know I'm not the reason you cry.
Our relationship is one of love and hate,
But there is no escape, it's fate."
It seems I'm never good enough.
I try so hard to stay tough.
When will I find the one?
I'm coming undone.
Is he out there?
Where?
Is he lost, too?
He's long overdue.
I suppose patience is a virtue.
I see others so in love,
A gift from above.
I smile.
Happy that their days are worthwhile.
It's only at night,
When the sun is long out of sight;
That the sorrow really creeps in.
Tears can no longer be held within.
This loneliness is unbearable.
This heartbreak terrible.
Unrequited love,
Never a gift from above.
I wear my smile as a mask;
It's no easy task.
Time is running out;
Without a doubt.
My biological clock is ticking,
Click, clicking.
My womb,
With no flower in bloom;
It fills me with gloom.
The devil's laughter, loud.
My torment makes him proud.
I flirt with su***de,
What will I decide?
In the end, it doesn't even matter.
My heart has been through many a shatter.
Every time it breaks,
My very soul aches.
So now you know what keeps me up at night.
My future doesn't seem bright.
My eyes no longer have light.
This life is full of spite.
I've no fight left,
Bereft.
