Pound Puppy Restoration
My partner and I spent I don’t know how many years trying to find an all dark, chocolate brown Pound Puppy to be a gift for his sister, despite skulking around thrift shops, toy shows, and conventions any opportunity we got. (Sorry to all the other Pound Puppies we’ve left behind in our search.) 😅
We FINALLY came across this very loved lad randomly this past summer. His nose must have been delicious because there were a several chew marks dug into his plastic snoot. (Admittedly I got really busy in a lot of projects throughout December and I forgot to take a proper “Before” pic.) There were also several other holes throughout his face, ears, and body that would need mending. My partner was ready to pass him up in his rough shape but I knew this little dude could be rescued if I took the time to restore him.
I looked into replacing his nose but none of the safety noses I found online were the right match. I ended up deciding to mend the original nose by sanding down the chew marks. Once I got most of the marks removed I actually used ’s Smoothing Base Coat as a primer. It filled in the little remaining divots beautifully and evened out the rough, sanded nose. HT’s LE polish Magical Mustache was actually the perfect shade to the original color, so I repainted his nose and topped it with some of my remaining Super Glossy Taco. I am wildly happy with how well his “nose surgery” came out.
All that was left was sewing up the little holes and tears throughout his face, around the nose, and in his ears and body. Then he got cleaned up and de-cat-fuzzed (as mush as we could in a house with three cats.)
Overall I’m really happy with how this sad little pup came out. Literally being able to rescue a Pound Puppy has some kind of double entendre in there… regardless I hope he enjoys his new home being Fudge 2.0. 🤎
