American Academy of Art Open House and Silent Auction.

The Academy’s Open House and Silent Auction will take place from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the American Academy of Art College at 332 S. Michigan Ave., Third Floor, Chicago, Illinois.

Closing a college is an expensive undertaking. The proceeds of the auction will benefit the professional and ethical closing of the Academy. The auction will help to find good homes for the Academy’s collection, which spans almost 100 years.

Bidding opens at 12:00 pm and closes at exactly 6:00 pm.

All sales are final and are sold “AS IS”.

There are no refunds after purchase.

Winners must pick up their item by showing their payment confirmation.

Winners must pick up all items the night of the auction unless special arrangements are made.

If an item is left unclaimed, it will become the property of the Academy and may be resold.

Each bidder assumes all risks and hazards related to the silent auction and items.

The Academy has the right to change, add, or withdraw an item, without notice.

Dear Friends of the Academy,

It is with a blend of nostalgia and gratitude that we invite you to join us for a special Open House as we commemorate the American Academy of Art’s remarkable 101-year journey. This gathering is dedicated to celebrating the countless memories, achievements, and creative legacies that have flourished within our cherished institution.

Throughout the years, the Academy has been a center of artistic talent, drive and ambition. We invite you to reconnect with fellow alumni, faculty, and friends to share your stories, reminisce about the past, and celebrate the impact the Academy has had on all our lives.

As a token of appreciation, we will have various pieces of artwork and memorabilia available for a suggested donation. These items, crafted by our talented community, serve as lasting mementos of the Academy’s enduring legacy.

We understand that the news of our closure may bring mixed emotions. However, this event is intended to be a positive and uplifting occasion—a time to honor the Academy’s legacy and the profound connections we’ve forged. We kindly ask that attendees come with the intention of celebrating and reflecting on the positive experiences and contributions that have defined the Academy.

Thanks to a great team of students and support from the Academy community we were able to raise over $6,000. This brought the cost for students down to only $75 per person, which included travel, accommodations, 3 in-depth, design based workshops with local businesses and artists, and several group experiences.

Special thanks to John McCain for volunteering his time and talents, providing headshots to our seniors:)

A big shout out to Chey (the one and only) who led all of these efforts and helped us grow and go even further this year!

This experience will stick with each of us and serves as a great reminder of the strength of community. We are forever grateful!

¡Feliz Dia de los Mu***os! This beautiful poster was designed by Academy senior , who also helped to create this years ofrenda. Students, faculty, and staff were all welcome to place offerings on the ofrenda in honor of their lost loved ones.

During our Halloween festivities, faculty member taught students to make and decorate their own traditional sugar skulls, which were also added to the ofrenda. Didn’t it turn out gorgeous?!
