The Building Stage

The Building Stage We are a theater company and performance space located in Chicago's industrial West Loop.

The Building Stage works from pre-existing sources that reflect the world we live in. We transform those sources through rehearsal, creating on our feet, with no separation between play and production. This process allows us to highlight the rapport that is created between performers and audience in the space and time of performance. Our pieces do not simply tell narrative stories; instead, they p

lay with the boundary between poetry and prose, engaging the mind as well as the emotions, stirring the imagination as much as the senses.

After eight years, there are only three more performances before The Building Stage closes its doors forever.

It's hard to put into words what this means to us.

That's why we made "Dawn, Quixote." It is our farewell. It says what we cannot. And it does so in the language we are most comfortable with — that of the theater.
