Today, as we celebrate Juneteenth and African American Music Month, we honor the power of Black music, culture, and community.
The blues was born from the experiences of Black Americans and has long served as a vehicle for storytelling, resilience, creativity, and freedom. It remains one of the most influential contributions to American music and culture.
That spirit was on full display at Chicago Blues Revival’s From Roots to Rhythm Spring Gala, where we gathered to celebrate the people who ensure this legacy continues to thrive.
We were honored to recognize Billy Branch and Rosa Enrico Branch for their commitment to blues education, Melody Angel for her advocacy and community leadership, and John Primer for a lifetime of musicianship and preserving the sound of Chicago blues.
As you enjoy these moments from our gala, we invite you to join us in celebrating the artists, educators, and advocates who carry this music forward every day.
On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom and the cultural traditions that continue to shape our future. During African American Music Month, we honor the artists, educators, and advocates who ensure these traditions endure for generations to come.
