🌿The Chicago Park District’s Young Cultural Stewards is seeking a Curriculum Developer to design pedagogical tools that supports creative youth development, arts-based, culturally grounded, and youth-centered programming across Chicago’s public parks and community gardens.
🎨Overview
YCS invites curriculum designers, teaching artists, youth development specialists, and creative practitioners to create a comprehensive YCS curriculum serving youth ages 5–18. The selected consultant will craft a culturally responsive, youth-centered framework and curricular materials that strengthen artistic practice, leadership development, community engagement, and social justice learning.
📝Scope of Work:
Curriculum Framework & Development
- Develop a creative youth development and social justice–rooted framework
- Feature lesson plans and pedagogical tools from YCS core programs: TRACE, Inferno, ArtSeed, and *small is all*
⏰Timeline
- February: facilitate a kickoff meeting with program stewards and teaching artists
- March: curriculum review & co-creation with program stewards
- April-May: develop teaching artist trainings
- June - July: participate in program observation & curriculum refinement
- August: present final curriculum and incorporate revisions
📚Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with curriculum design and implementation
- 5+ years of experience in program design, documentation, and evaluation
- Deep knowledge of trauma-informed, healing-centered, and youth-centered pedagogical practices
- Strong grounding in critical pedagogy, cultural responsiveness & equity-centered learning
- Experience facilitating collaborative learning spaces with educators and community partners
- Strong project management skills
- Clear, thoughtful written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas for diverse audiences
