Keith Nunnally, the legendary voice of J.M. Silk, has passed away. As one of the defining vocalists of the Chicago house music movement, his artistry helped shape the sound that would spread from the clubs of Chicago to dance floors across the world.

With Steve “Silk” Hurley, Nunnally brought J.M. Silk to international recognition, delivering timeless classics like “I Can’t Turn Around,” “Shadows of Your Love,” and “Let the Music Take Control.” His vocal power and range were unmatched, carrying both the soulful roots of gospel and the raw energy of house into every performance. On stage, his presence was magnetic, setting a standard for vocalists in the genre that few could ever match.

Nunnally’s contributions were not only felt in the charts and clubs of the 1980s but continue to echo in the global house community today. His work laid part of the foundation for a culture that continues to inspire new generations of DJs, producers, and vocalists.

We honor his memory, his music, and the legacy he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Keith Nunnally.
