“The Story of Violence”, modeled after the movie One Night in Miami, the play examines the historical racial strife in Chicago, and the way it has shaped the surging violence that plagues Chicago’s poorest communities today. From redlining, to drill music, to the construction of the classroom-to-prison pipeline, “The Story of Violence” weaves spoken word, powerful lyrics, and storytelling to profound effect.

Co-founder of the pacifist group “Voices Wilderness” in 1996, Kathy has also spent significant time in Afghanistan, Gaza, and Lebanon, working to shine a light on the effects of US and Israeli imperialism. In 2005, she published her book Other Lands Have Dreams: From Baghdad to Pekin Prison. She has also co-authored the books Prisoners on Purpose: a Peacemakers Guide to Jails and Prison (1989) and War and Peace in the Gulf (2001).
