When I was 9 years old, I was obsessed with Jazz music. When I was 11, I wanted to Tap like the Nicholas Brothers. When I hear Jazz, it is ancestral. I enjoy- dare I say, love it. It is ancestral. It is contemporary. It is Chicago. Add some House and it is super Chicago. It is me.

Our opponents flicked us off🖕🏽🖕🏿. We had to respond in-kind 😅. Came in smooth & got BUCK AF!

I watched so many Kungfu flicks as a kid, so those one-finger Shaolin Monk exercises flashed in my head. I also grew up roasting, so my quick-witted ability to respond translates into movement as well.

Don't let the🖕🏾🖕🏽 fool you. This battle was so much fun!

Why are people mad? I don't dig the term FBA and need to look into it, but Lord Jamar's perspective is very valid 🤷🏾‍♂️. Concerning Breaking as an element of Hip-hop, the romanticized viewpoint of the culture as this static thing that was "created" is sus and not based on reality. The framing of the elements of Hip-hop as this static thing l, specifically with Breaking, is what has kept other groups of people relevant to the culture and allowed for the continued propagation of universal creation myths. I think that people are upset that ethnically Black folks in the USA are speaking out.
