We are happy to announce our CALL FOR ARTISTS for MADMADE PRINT FAIR.

This is the second year of the fair, and we are so excited to see that and are also taking place that same weekend with their amazing programs.

MadMade is a one-day, community-centered print fair celebrating artists living with psychiatric disabilities and mental health challenges.

We’re looking for printmakers, illustrators, artists, designers, and zine makers working in screenprint, risograph, linocut, etching, and other print-based practices.

MadMade is a mad-positive, disability-affirming event centered on first-person experience — making space for work that is messy, joyful, angry, thoughtful, beautiful, and everything in between.

Application deadline: October 5, 2026

Fair date: November 14, 2026
12–4:30 PM
Access Living, Chicago

COUNTER-MAPPING AS A TOOL FOR MOVEMENT BUILDING

How do we represent our spaces, our histories, and our futures on our own terms?

Join us for a teach-in with urban designer, printmaker, and organizer Bria Miller as we dive into The Abolitionist Atlas.

In this workshop, we will utilize The Abolitionist Atlas to explore counter-mapping as a tool for movement building. We will discuss how communities have historically developed counter-mapping practices in response to oppression and participants will be guided through methods for creating their own maps rooted in local organizing landscapes and histories while responding to broader revolutionary struggles.

If you’ve ever cut down a stack of paper at Spudnik, you probably know our paper guillotine. It’s a true workhorse! But after years of trimming thousands of prints, posters, and zines, it has finally given out.

Replacing and modernizing a guillotine isn't cheap, but it's essential for keeping print jobs running smoothly and safely for everyone in our space.

That’s where our PBS style Print Drive comes in. Every print you purchase from our flat files directly funds crucial equipment upgrades—like a new guillotine—while also supporting stipends for incoming resident artists and fair pay for our staff.

We’re featuring works under $250 here—if just 20% of you seeing this post purchase a print, we'll reach our goal this week and move forward with replacing our equipment.

Drawn from research into the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU) archives, L Vinebaum’s New Demands? series adapts early 20th-century union placards and activist typography into print. Created during their 2015 residency at Spudnik Press, these works examine how past labor struggles mirror today’s fights for workers' rights.

Available in our online shop for the annual Print Drive.

Proceeds support our studio equipment and artist residency program.
