Frank Beard sat behind that kit from 1969. Through the Texas blues years, the massive tours of the 70s, the MTV explosion of the 80s and everything that came after. He didn't need to announce his presence — you just heard it. That pocket, that groove, that backbeat that made ZZ Top sound like no one else on earth.
