Dear Human:
You've got it all wrong.
You didn't come here to master
unconditional love.
This is where you came from
and where you'll return.
You came here to learn personal love.
Universal love. Messy love. Sweaty Love. Crazy love. Broken love. Whole love. Infused with divinity.
Lived through the grace of stumbling.
Demonstrated through the beauty of...
messing up. Often.
You didn't come here to be perfect,
you already are.
You came here to be gorgeously human. Flawed and fabulous.
And rising again into remembering.
But unconditional love?
Stop telling that story.
Love in truth doesn't need any adjectives.
It doesn't require modifiers.
It doesn't require the condition of perfection.
It only asks you to show up. And do your best.
That you stay present and feel fully.
That you shine and fly
and laugh and cry and hurt
and heal and fall and get back up and play
and work and live and die as YOU.
Its enough.
It's Plenty.

Powerful!

Joshua Dyer (aged 14) was tasked at school to write a poem for Remembrance Day.
An hour later (without any help) he produced this.

ONE THOUSAND MEN ARE WALKING

One thousand men are walking
Walking side by side
Singing songs from home
The spirit as their guide
they walk toward the light milord
they walk towards the sun
they smoke and laugh and smile together
no foes to outrun
these men live on forever
in the hearts of those they saved
a nation truly grateful
for the path of peace they paved
they march as friends and comrades
but they do not march for war
step closer to salvation
a tranquil steady corps
the meadows lit with golden beams
a beacon for the brave
the emerald grass untrampled
a reward for what they gave
they dream of those they left behind
and know they dream of them
forever in those poppy fields
there walks one thousand men

Joshua Dyer 2019 (aged 14)

Lest we forget
This has to be shared. An incredible poem from 14 year old Joshua Dyer

The guy in the glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for wealth
and the world makes you king for a day
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself
and see what the man has to say

For it isn't your father your mother or your wife
whose judgement upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in his life
is the man looking back in the glass

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
for he's with you clear up to the end
And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test
when the man in the glass is our friend

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years
and get pats on the back as you pass
But our final reward will be heartache and tears
if you've cheated the guy in the glass

The past two month some family and friends retired from the working world! Hope you get all the odd jobs done that did not go away over the years! And you have the free time you thought you might have, yet you volunteered for a lot of things, agreed to look after the grandkids on Tuesday and Thursdays, go to the book club on Saturday afternoons, and every Monday joined the backyard organic garden club.

Then you have to fit in visiting friends and family you have not seen in a while, catch that movie and have time for you life partner. Thought you were retired and had time...

Hope you enjoyed our retirement poems of the past month!

Retirement dreams

retirement, the business
of settling down to the ebb
of life before time pulls its hand out
to close its doors on us, one last cold
cold setback everybody has to take lying down,
without even the privilege of expressing whether
we like it all or not. everything's too planned in
advance sorry, like this retirement.

retirees are sunflowers tilting
and shining a splendid lustrous
dextrous yellow in the evening breeze,
in the full splendour of the sun before they
slowly gently glide into the hands of the
expansive horizon, dip into infinity of time.

sweet and honey for those who
have the means and the plans to live out
their sunset dreams but a turbulent outing for
those never interested in squeezing
the succulent grapes of youth to make the
exquisite scintillating wines for vantage years
the days run on and on like a race to nowhere

Retirement

At last, it’s here
Long awaited, anticipated
Dreamed about and planned for
And so meets two opposing emotions
Elation in the joy of the moment
And trepidation in the idea
Of, suddenly, being
Unemployed

Retirement

Thirty-one years of people, paper and promotion
Each required an individual effort and devotion.
Most of those I started with have gone their way
My time to turn in the badge and call it a day.

I have lived here longer than any home I bought
It has been my benefactor for more than I sought.
My companion longer than all that I had
Accompanied me when two sons called me dad.

It allowed me to meet a variety of human endeavor
To work with those who lacked the word never.
It gave me contact with the genius, tireless and we
Truly the melting pot of lives and people I would see.

Retirement

Gosh! Oh gee! I'm an O.A.P.
Oh what am I going to do,
I have worked all my life,
Through trouble and strife,
And feel just a little bit blue I just cannot retire,
I still have lots of fire,
And plenty of vigour and vim,
I can dance, and can sing,
Do most everything
But alas never learned to swim. I can waltz, do the tango,
But not the fandango,
In a quickstep or rumba take part
And 'tho I'm in a spin,
I can say with a grin,
I intend to remain
Young in heart.

Retirement

O, let me be alone a while,
No human form is nigh.
And may I sing and muse aloud,
No mortal ear is by.
Away! ye dreams of earthly bliss,
Ye earthly cares begone:
Depart! ye restless wandering thoughts,
And let me be alone!

One hour, my spirit, stretch thy wings,
And quit this joyless sod,
Bask in the sunshine of the sky,
And be alone with God!

This year has already started to run, we are nearly halfway through January! Wow! Hope it is awesome so far and keep the positive side of things. Don't judge, we all have our own path to walk in this life! Have fun doing it! Dee

“Christmas Bells”

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Orchids

Our mind is like a garden.
Weeds don't need any encouragement
to grow.
They grow everywhere.
But
try growing orchids
in the cracks of a pavement...
