Building on last year’s sold-out engagement, Chicago Black Dance Legacy Project (CBDLP) returns to the Harris, transforming the stage into a living archive — where dance doesn’t simply tell history; it becomes history in motion.

Performed by ten of Chicago’s most exciting companies, this electrifying evening honor's the city's Black cultural, social, political, and artistic architects through movement, imagination, and lineage rather than literal representation.

📅 Friday, August 28 / 7:00PM

This program features CBDLP’s current companies:

Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center and Hiplet Ballerinas
Deeply Rooted Dance Theater
The Era Footwork Crew
Forward Momentum Chicago: Dancing Towards the Future
Joel Hall Dancers & Center
M.A.D.D. Rhythms
Move Me Soul

Last week, we celebrated Lori Dimun's last day at the Harris! ✨

Lori dedicated 15 years of service and leadership, including 6 years as President and CEO. During her tenure, she deepened the Harris's commitment to access, equity, and artistic excellence by bringing landmark performances to our stage by world-renowned companies, such as Pina Bausch's The Rite of Spring performed by École des Sables, Akram Khan's Jungle Book and Creature with English National Ballet, and the return of New York City Ballet to Chicago; speerheaded the Theater's 20th anniversary celebration; among many other milestones.

Lori will always be part of the Harris family and we wish her the best of luck in her new chapter!

Illinois took a major step to protect live music fans. House Bill 4984, banning speculative ticketing, passed the Senate on May 30. Once signed into law this summer, it will give consumers legal protection against fraudulent ticket vendors.

Thank you to Representative State Rep. Nabeela Syed and State Senator Steve Stadelman for your leadership, and to the General Assembly for passing this bill with unanimous, bipartisan support.

We are proud to be among the organizations that helped advocate: Auditorium Theatre, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Joffrey Ballet, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Ravinia Festival.
