Hey everyone!! Ms Maggie here!! I wanted to invite you all to come out to see what I’ve been working on this weekend!! I designed and directed a program for The Performers school Troupe and we are performing Shrek Jr this weekend at THE SKOKIE THEATRE both today, Saturday and Sunday. The 1pm shows are sold out but there are still tickets available for our 5 pm shows!!! I hope you will come and say hello! Bring your family! This is not to be missed! These audition only 4th and 5th graders are not performing a kids show! This show is professional, honest, hilarious, and full of extremely talented young actors. Not to mention the beautiful set and costumes designed by David Geinosky!!! If your looking for something to do that will make you laugh and cry and dance in your seat get your self to The Skokie theatre this weekend! I am so very proud of these young actors and I’d love to see you all there!!

Li’l Buds alumni range in ages from college graduates-3 year old preschoolers! We accomplished a lot Maggie Portman and Jenny Lamb! Hey Alums what are you doing now send us and update. I will be back where it all began FXW next year! Miss Jenny Lamb is teaching college students in Oklahoma and Miss Maggie Is in Highwood teaching at the performers school!

Big things are happening in Li’l Buds land Friday 8/16/19 will be our last official production. After 15 years of high quality theatrical training we have decided to close the curtain. All of the talented people involved with Li’l Buds over the years have taken their talents on the road. They continue to share their passion with audiences and students of all ages. So fear not our mission will continue and spread throughout chicago and beyond.

This is a time for celebration so come and join us and the talented cast of Hairspray jr. As we end things with a bang!

TWO NEW CLASSES FOR STUDENTS 3rd -5th GRADE

PLAY STUDY
YOUNG PERFORMERS LEVEL 1
Taught by Maggie Portman

Open to students in 3rd - 5th Grade

Saturdays 10 am - 11:30 am

In this class, we will build and strengthen our storytelling skills using the “actor’s toolkit” of the body/physicality, voice, and imagination. We will learn how to create a character with a physical life very different from our own by exploring the art of playing an animal on stage. We will have fun using the script from the play “The Tortoise and the Hare.” The session will end with a workshop presentation open to family and friends to enjoy on the last day of class.

MUSICAL THEATRE STUDY
YOUNG PERFORMERS LEVEL 1
Taught by Maggie Portman

Open to students in 3rd - 5th Grade

Wednesdays 5 pm - 6:30 pm
In this class, actors will dive into the art of character development. They will strengthen their voice, movement, and storytelling skills using shortened highlights of scenes, songs, and dances from the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! Invite your friends and family to see their workshop presentation of these fun and iconic characters brought to life on the last day of class!

The workshop presentation will take place on the last day of the session. The presentation will be open to your family and friends to come and enjoy.

Professional actor, Maggie Portman will introduce your little actor to the basic skills of theatre, group collaboration, and the art of storytelling.
