!!!WE ARE SILVER AWARD WINNERS!!!
JUNE 18, 2026 -- "The UPTOWN: Chicago’s Endangered Movie Palace" book by authors James A. Pierce and Robert Loerzel (CityFiles Press) has been awarded a Silver Medal by the Independent Publisher Book Awards in the category of Architecture.
This is a prestigious Indie Book Award, and we are happy to receive the recognition.
In addition to announcing the 2026 IPPY Medalists, the organization is celebrating a major milestone—the 30th anniversary of the Independent Publisher Book Awards!
When the IPPY Awards began in 1996, the idea was simple: independent books deserve to be recognized. Over the past three decades, they have had the privilege of honoring thousands of authors and publishers whose creativity, passion, and dedication continue to shape the world of independent publishing.
Thirty years later, Independent Publisher Book Awards continues to be inspired by the books independent authors and publishers bring into the world. This year’s entries made the judges’ task both rewarding and incredibly challenging, and the quality, originality, and diversity of submissions served as a reminder of why celebrating independent voices remains so important.
