Hey I got some thoughts on this Stephen A thing, in my opinion its kind of disrespectful that NABJ gave him a “Thumbs Down Award”
According to NABJ:
"Smith has established a recurring public pattern of disparaging commentary directed at black women across politics and sports”
Two different instances I watched with my own eyes in the past year:
Joy Reid’s show got canceled on MSNBC because of low ratings in Feb of 2025.
I literally saw Stephen A Smith report that Joy Reid’s show got canceled on MSNBC because of low ratings.
And he got blasted for that.
He gave her props said she was great on TV complimented her, all of that.
Never said she was bad at what she does, nothing negative at all.
All he did was report it.
Jazmine Crockett lost the election in Texas simply because most of the Black people in Dallas & Houston just didn’t vote.
I saw Stephen A say that all of her performing and dissing Trump and not talking about what she would do for her constituents, how is that gonna help her win the election?
Guess what?
She lost the election.
In these two instances, please explain how is he disrespecting black women????
“He disses black athletes”
Aren’t most athletes black???
He mainly covers basketball & football 80-85% of those athletes are black
Is Stephen A smoking w**d with them?
Is Stephen A forcing them to beat their girlfriends up on elevators and have DUIs and be caught with drugs and gambling on games and and doing all this stupid s**t?
He has to speak on it.
He’s been the same for the past 20 years if an athlete White or Black does something stupid he’s going to talk about it.
I understand he appears on Fox News and has all of these conservative white Republicans, etc. on his YouTube show, and that rubs some of black folk wrong, like “why is he talking to them?” but he gives equal time to the brothers and our issues too✊🏾
We all got opinions but we can’t just pay attention to what we want and leave the other s**t out.
