Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts is a school for the performing arts, specializing in the instruction of dance and music. Mayfair started as a family owned and operated business founded by the late great Mr. Tommy Sutton (renowned Tap Dancer & Choreographer) and is currently under the direction of his daughter, Peggy Sutton. Sutton understands that her purpose is to continue the legacy her Father left

before her. Mayfair, now in its fifty-ninth year of successful operation, is currently housed at 8701 S. Mayfair continues to thrive in the same community that gave it its origins. Mayfair Students are mentally, physically & artistically motivated which also translates to home and school. A child that is mentally and physically involved (especially after school and weekends) is more likely to succeed . At Mayfair students are given the opportunity to discover themselves, become aware of music and are surrounded by art. They learn discipline while have fun, achieving grace and confidence and developing self-esteem as a member of the Mayfair Family. Mayfair offers the best teaching techniques in the art of dance, the dedication to the cultural development of our children, through the proper exposure in the atmosphere of the arts not as just a commercial establishment but as a permanent contribution to our children and the community in which they live. Mayfair Academy offers a full schedule of classes from beginning to advanced starting at age 3 through adults. Our registration officially begins in September and our classes run from September through June.

school year rehearsing for their annual dance recital held
on June 14, 2009 at the Harris Theater, Chicago, IL. Titled - "MA dances To MJ". A show dedicated to the music and magic of Michael Jackson.

Little did we know less than 2 weeks later the world would lose The King of Pop. Enjoy this Ballet performance to Smile. Choreographed by Heather Baumgardner. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Greg Bush. Greg was truly an exceptional individual—a great man, a loyal friend, and a dedicated family man whose presence enriched the lives of everyone he touched.

His contributions to the Mayfair community were vast and varied. At Mayfair events, Greg was the driving force behind our audiovisual production, meticulously handling everything from videotaping and music to the creation of professional video packages. His dedication even extended to designing and producing T-shirts! Beyond his professional talents, Greg was a familiar and welcome face at Mayfair, often seen dropping off and picking up his children for their classes or stepping in to do whatever else was necessary to support the community.

We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to the Bush Family: Nichelle, Jay, Jordyn, Jasmyn, and Jaidyn. While he will be greatly missed by all of us, his incredible legacy will live on through his wonderful children, into whom he poured so much love and guidance. His spirit will also remain a permanent part of the legacy of Mayfair, an organization of which he was such a vital and indispensable part. RIP💜💜💜

MAYFAIR MOMENTS: A Legacy of Dance and Culture

Mayfair Academy doesn't just celebrate Black History during one month because IT IS Black History. Since its inception in 1957, Mayfair has been a pillar of the community, committed to providing quality dance education to both the children and adults it serves.

Mayfair has consistently and intentionally strived to serve a dual purpose: mastering the art of dance while also being a vital educational institution dedicated to promoting and preserving the history and cultural heritage of the African American experience.
This deep cultural dedication was most vividly expressed through the spectacular annual Mayfair Dance Recitals. These performances were powerful, narrative tributes to the African diaspora. Here are just a few show titles from Mayfair's history that exemplify this profound educational and artistic commitment, showcasing the depth and breadth of the Black experience:
