Our December 21, 2025 Growing Stories: Writers Workshop Performance Showcase was a true celebration of Chicago storytelling and community arts.

Thank you to expert teaching artist (Yolanda Nieves) for leading six weeks of powerful development with our writers, and to the writers themselves for a “spectacular performance,” as noted by Sidney Lee, VGT's Board Vice Chair .

A huge thank you to our sponsors: Poems While You Wait for their incredible interactive typewriter poems in the lobby, and Mia Francesca's Restaurant in Lincolnwood for providing an amazing pre-show meal for our performers and staff.

We welcomed audiences from across Chicago and visitors from all over the country — an open-to-the-public, free experience that highlighted the strength of our creative community.

Stay tuned for our next event on February 14, 2026 at Victory Gardens Theater (New Musicals Chicago Showcase tickets here: https://victorygardens.org/events/).
