Enrollment for summer classes is now open! Go to theartistichome.org to begin or continue your Meisner journey with us!

The Artistic Home is one of the Midwest’s most established and respected training programs for Meisner based technique. Taught by working professionals who know how to help bring out your best and apply it to your work on stage or on camera.

Our Meisner-based series is designed to be taken in order from Tech 1 - Tech 4. Tech 1 requires a quick application followed by a phone interview prior to registration. After each class session students receive a private evaluation with the instructors. To receive the full benefits and artistic growth of these classes we request that all students take the series in order. After you have completed all 4 classes you are welcome to return to any class when you feel you need a brush-up.

“A slow-burning, character-driven drama with sharp wit and an undercurrent of tension, The Sugar Wife draws you in with humor and measured storytelling before revealing something far darker beneath the surface.”
Entertaining Chicago

“With its excellent cast, beautiful construction and incisive character portrayals, we immediately see and agree how well the people in The Sugar Wife mirror all of us.”
Splash Magazine

Elizabeth Kuti’s play is very strong and The Artistic Home Company makes it one to see.”
Around the Town Chicago

“Directed flawlessly by Kevin Hagan”
Splash Magazine

“Hogan is remarkable at letting us see the conflict within Hannah even as her behavior is proper to a fault, and when she lets loose, it’s a joy to watch.”
Stage and Cinema

“Calvin gives a nuanced performance that only reveals its power in the final portion of the play. Her monologues are spectacularly delivered, and sitting right next to her podium, they unnerved me in ways I cannot articulate.”

Stage combat is the craft of appearing violent while being safe. In this class we will explore the basics of each weapon and how it is used in theatre, as well as the evolution of violence and how it is reflected in various aspects of the culture.
4/12/26-5/17/26
Sunday 6-9pm
Instructor: David Blixt
Prerequisite: Admission by interview

One Day Only!!!! Rob Adler, Co-Head of DePaul University’s BFA Acting Program, leads this masterclass on using improvisation to unlock scripted text for stage and screen. ADLERIMPROV offers actors practical tools for making prepared material feel immediate, alive, and fully inhabited. The work helps actors deepen presence, impulse, listening, and responsiveness while staying connected to the specific demands of language, structure, and storytelling. In this masterclass, actors will apply the work directly to a prepared monologue and explore how game-based rehearsal can open up spontaneity, specificity, and truthful behavior within scripted performance. The tools are also highly applicable to auditions, self-tapes, rehearsal, and professional acting work. Actors should come prepared with a monologue (or short scene in pairs if you prefer) and be ready to work actively on their feet in a collaborative studio environment.
4/18/26
Saturday 10-1p
Instructor: Rob Adler
Prerequisite: Admission by interview
