Rounding out our Summer on the Patio lineup is the workshop reading of BLACK METAMORPHOSIS, written by Sam Kebede and directed by Christian Helem.

BLACK METAMORPHOSIS is a bold, darkly comedic, Afro-satirical reimagining of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. Through surreal comedy, biting theatricality, and audience participation, the play exposes the machinery of institutional colonization, assimilation, and racial capitalism, asking what happens when identity itself becomes a product and whether true freedom can survive its commodification.

Our beloved summer repertory workshop series returns! Join us at our “Artistic Home” at 3054 N Milwaukee throughout the month of August for raw, thought-provoking theater! This summer we are exploring two brand new works and a rarely-produced gem by José Rivera. Enrollment for summer classes is now open! Go to theartistichome.org to begin or continue your Meisner journey with us!

The Artistic Home is one of the Midwest’s most established and respected training programs for Meisner based technique. Taught by working professionals who know how to help bring out your best and apply it to your work on stage or on camera.

Our Meisner-based series is designed to be taken in order from Tech 1 - Tech 4. Tech 1 requires a quick application followed by a phone interview prior to registration. After each class session students receive a private evaluation with the instructors. To receive the full benefits and artistic growth of these classes we request that all students take the series in order. After you have completed all 4 classes you are welcome to return to any class when you feel you need a brush-up.
