Sheridan Road Magazine says, "Definitely recommended for lovers of literature and admirers of Mary Shelley’s continuing importance, The Book of Spectres may, also, be the family holiday treat that parents have been looking for. "

Newcity Stage: "The production transports us on a charming trip down memory lane as we revisit the European collective unconscious through the assembled European folk tales, a rare and valuable experience in itself... The Book of Spectres is an interesting departure from traditional Chicago storefront realism and will definitely get you in the mood for the upcoming All Hallows’ Eve."

Look folks! The Chicago Reader likes us! "(Sarah) Ruhl shows flashes of insight and wit—and the same goes for Grey Ghost Theatre's inaugural production, directed with a light, elegant touch by Amber Robinson."

I'm so proud of you all! Congratulations again on the opening!

Sarah Ruhl's first play (originally produced by Evanston's Piven Theatre in 2002) is a "contemporary farce" about the allure of melancholy. Saucer-eyed Mouzam Makkar plays Tilly, an extravagantly unhappy woman of the type given to fainting on fainting couches and crying on rainy afternoons.
