There are many free activities around the city that are perfect for those who are looking to get more involved in the Chicago art scene. For example, every week on Thursday and Friday the Chicago Cultural Center offers building tours which are free to the public.

The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago's free museum admission for Illinois residents on Tuesdays from 5 - 9 PM is another example of visual arts being accessible in the city.

This past Sunday, thieves broke into the Louvre and seized 8 pieces including a diamond encrusted brooch that belonged to Napoleon III’s wife Empress Eugénie, as well as necklaces and diadems. The Louvre has valued the loss at 88 million euros. Because these objects were uninsured, the museum will receive no payouts to cover the loss of the missing items.

This recent heist demonstrates the importance of getting your property insured. We recommend having an appraisal completed every 3-5 years to maintain proper insurance coverage in case of theft, accidents, or damages. As all of our reports are written according to USPAP standards, they are accepted by all insurance companies and stand up in a court of law. We're here to assist with protecting your valuables!

Through Jan 4, 2026 The Art Institute of Chicago is showing an exhibition focused on the artistic legacy of Elizabeth Catlett. This important exhibition brings together over 100 works from across Catlett’s awe-inspiring career. This long-overdue retrospective showcases the significant role this revolutionary artist and radical activist played in her time and the influence she still has today.

We are proud to have worked on a large number of pieces by Catlett in the last twenty years, up to the present day. This is the perfect time to get your Catlett artworks, or other art pieces, appraised for proper insurance coverage.
