Gloria Steinem helped make space for generations of women to speak, create, organize and be heard. For nearly 35 years, Woman Made Gallery has carried that work forward. We honore her legacy as artworks in our Feminism 250 exhibition fill our gallery.

On view now, and join us September 18 at Makers & Shakers to keep the movement going.

At Woman Made Gallery, we recognize Gloria Steinem as a force whose courage and bold action made feminist spaces like ours possible.

Her commitment to equality showed that real change begins when women claim their voices and support one another's creative power.

Woman Made Gallery was founded in that spirit as a space that gives women artists visibility, community, and a place where their work is valued.

We exist because Gloria Steinem helped clear the path through her bravery, her advocacy, and her unwavering insistence that women's stories matter. Rest in power, Gloria.

On Saturday, August 29th, Woman Made Gallery celebrated the opening reception of Feminism 250: Woman Made America! Anchored in America 250, the nationwide commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary, Feminism 250 looks back at 250 years of feminist thought and action, from early demands for basic rights to today’s movements for gender justice and asks how that history can guide the feminist futures still being built.

Congratulations to all featured artists, and thank you to our dear friends, families, and WMG supporters who came to this opening reception!

Feminism 250 is on view until September 26th. Please visit this powerful exhibition during our open hours!

Meet Le’Trice Buckingham!

She paints, writes, and tells the stories that need telling — and as a cultural facilitator, she’s the perfect guide for a conversation between our Makers & Shakers Bash honorees, Scheherazade Tillet and Jane Ruby. As a multidisciplinary Chicago artist rooted in love, creativity, and collective liberation, Le’Trice brings the clarity, empathy, and depth needed to connect art, activism, and community power.

Join us as we kick off Woman Made Gallery’s Makers & Shakers Bash with this conversation between women who are leading voices in art, activism, and issues surrounding human rights in Chicago and beyond.
