Join the St. James Cathedral Choir and Choristers for a stellar Evensong at St. Luke's Evanston, this Sunday at 4 p.m. The choir sings music of Richard Webster, Margaret Burk, C.V. Stanford, and Melissa Dunphy. Our organists will play music of Bach and Elgar.

We are delighted to welcome the choir of 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐍𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞 as choir-in-residence for Pentecost Sunday, May 24. The Cathedral Choir will sing music by Anthony Piccolo, Eleanor Daley, and Palestrina in our regular 11am Choral Eucharist.

They will also offer a 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈 for us at 4pm, singing music by contemporary composers Jeffrey Richard, Joanna Forbes L'Estrange, Philip Stopford, and Lucy Walker. Assistant Organist Dr. Peter Rogahn will play Pentecost-themed organ works by Bach, Sumsion, Larson, and Demessieux.

Sung by the Cathedral Choir & Choristers

Beginning in May 2026, the Cathedral’s organ will be unavailable as we prepare to install the Hoover Memorial Organ. Consequently, the final two Choral Evensongs of the year will take place off campus. Choral Evensong on May 3 will be celebrated at Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago. The Cathedral Choir and Choristers join forces for Howells’ iconic Collegium Regale setting of the evening canticles and music celebrating the legacy of Leo Sowerby, Hyde Park resident and Director of Music at St. James from 1927-1962.
