Some details for tomorrows Jhoom Mehfil:

Venue: Chicago Athletic Association (12 S Michigan Ave), White City Ballroom 8th floor accessible via elevator

Getting There: Chicago Athletic Association is accessible by CTA buses and trains. If you are driving, be aware that parking in the area is paid. You can park in Grant Park North Garage (we recommend booking in advance using ParkWhiz or SpotHero)

COVID Policy
To keep our community as safe as possible and protect our COVID-conscious attendees, please review and respect our event’s COVID-19 guidelines:

If you are feeling symptomatic, please stay home and we will see you at the next event!
Testing/Masks Required: Please get tested for COVID-19 on the day of the event. If you cannot show a photo of a negative test result at check-in, we would like you to please wear a mask during the event (except during your personal performances).
A very limited number of face masks and rapid tests will be available at check-in, so please come prepared!
We’ll be using air filters provided by Clean Air Club to help improve indoor air quality, and crack the windows open.

We won’t be policing, but trust you to help look after each other and our community’s health. Thank you!

Final artist introduction before JHOOM MEHFIL TMRW!
We are so excited to have Kavisha Prajapati and Misha Talapatra as part of our lineup for tmrw✨✨

Misha Talapatra is a dance artist based in Chicago, who specializes in the Odissi dance form. She will performing a solo Odissi piece and participating in a jugalbandi dance piece with Harini Nilakantan.

Kavisha Prajapati is a dancer based in Chicago, and has done her training in Bharatanatyam. She also served as the co-captain for USC’s co-ed Bhangra team. She will be leading a folk dance workshop at Jhoom Mehfil.

We are so excited to witness some beautiful performances and learn some fun dance moves. See you all tmrw from 2-5PM at the Chicago Athletic Association at the White City Ballroom.

Meet our JHOOM artists✨✨✨
Shruti Kannan is a Carnatic vocalist, part of the Mehfil team 😘 and sings with the band, Do the Needful. She will be performing a jugalbandi at Jhoom Mehfil 🎤🎤🎵

Randall Jamrok is an up and coming tabla player deeply rooted in the Chicago South Asian classical music scene, who studied under Pandit Samir Chatterjee of Farrukhad Gharana. He will also be performing a jugalbandi alongside Shruti 🪷🪷

250SPLIT is a Chicago based DJ DUO, weaving mixes and blends that feel like an embrace across cultures 🎧🎧🎧
They will be djing our desi dance party to close off the event 🤪🤪

JHOOM MEHFIL ARTIST SPOTLIGHT💫💫💫:
Meet our first artist, Harini, who is a Chicago-based professional dancer, movement artist and content creator from Chennai, India.
Harini has over 20 years of training and experience in difference dance forms✨✨

We are excited to welcome her to Jhoom Mehfil, where she will she be doing a dance performance to jugalbandi with fellow artists, Shruti, Randall and fellow dancer, Misha!
She will also be leading us in a folk dance workshop alongside fellow dancer, Kavisha, before we launch into a banger Desi dance party✨✨✨✨

We're so excited to announce our upcoming event- all the way from Kolkata, presenting The Green Room Tapes!

Saturday, Oct 18th at the lovely , come prepared for a delightful evening of chai, samosas, open mic and a show!

This eclectic ensemble will be performing Indian classical fusion, particularly ghazals, filmy and instrumental music.

Doors open at 5pm and the performance will be preceded by our signature Open Mic.

We invite you to participate and perform in a Talent Show to kick off the evening. All styles and levels are welcome, and we especially encourage performances featuring dance or movement!

This will be followed by a featured Bharatnatyam and fusion dance performance with Harini and Misha Talapatra, accompanied by live music with Randall Jamrock and Shruti Kannan.
We will come together to learn some simple South Asian folk dance steps with each other led by Kavisha Prajapati and Harini Nilakantan, ending our afternoon dancing to desi folk bangers.

The JHOOM Mehfil event has been postponed due to some scheduling conflicts. We will be announcing a rescheduled JHOOM mehfil event date and time soon, so stay tuned for that. If you got tickets and sent donations, we will be sending out reimbursements for that.
