My love affair with creating began as a child spending every afternoon in my parent's floral and antique shop.

As the only daughter of artistic parents with few limitations, my eyes were always able to see the beauty and potential in even the strangest things. On one trip to an auction with my parents, we came home with a rickshaw, a wicker coffin, a king’s sword and scepter, and a laboratory skeleton. Many days like that one fueled my sense of imagination and eccentricity. Over time, my hands and mind have experimented with many forms of creativity that allow me to bring a feeling or an image to life through art that can be shared everyday with everyone around me. Having published multiple books with more on the horizon, the journey to combine words and images to master a “novel-in-poems” never ceases. Drawing from my past as a fine art fair jeweler, the desire to collaborate with other visual artists, photographers, and crafters is a form of hypnosis and it has me under its spell. At this juncture of my life finding my own extraordinary side has been a journey and my stories are screaming to be told. It is with great hope that you may find a piece of my work that will inspire you to be who you are.

BEST ART GIFT EVER! BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!

I am so grateful to have received a truly amazing and devilish birthday haunt, um I mean gift from two of the most wonderfully odd and unique humans I know.

Brilliant multi-disciplined visual artist, dear friend, and cousin, Friederike, a.k.a. .gorgon.art lives in Germany and draws inspiration from the oldest gothic lineages. Her work holds the earth in it, rooted, textural, quiet, yet powerful. Pre-dating subcultures or modern goth, Fryda Gorgon Art continues to expand with a distinct voice, from paper to print to jewelry to fine craft to goth decor to clothing, and more. Much of it limited or one-of-a-kind, like my beloved gift. Shop her art!

Some of her work finds its way global, like the logo for October City Press, and my second gift giver Jon (OCP's CEO and much more) who has lived too many places on the map to name. Culturally, he is human. In life, pretty goth and punk and industrial and um, let's say alternative, well-read, and worldly. His trust in her art and his understanding of the broken bits and baubles that make up me, was magick. Together they became a birthday gift dream team!

There is a familiar current beneath all this, subtle and steady, as if something shared has always been moving through us. A chosen global family of incredible humans creating music and art and literature is how our species became great. Any loss of it through non-human created art, looses that rare element that makes us all human. Rare. Different. Artists all.

That makes art an exclusively human created and human experienced concept that cannot be faked or replicated.

"Emerald" an improv poem done 3/6/2026 while thinking about the bedroom across the hallway from mine as a kid.

Red s**g carpet filled with a zillion dolls. Some old, some broken, some forgotten, some dead. Hopefully all, because they were TERRIFYING!

Just a basic fact about my childhood home. We had a red room, just for creepy collectible and rare dolls that taunted me for all my childhood.
