I'VE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED MY OWN DATABASE: CINE-CASTING.APP! 🎉
The app is designed to serve as a home for your talent profile while also giving you visibility into active roles across any productions I cast. You'll be able to:
✨ Update your profile in real time
✨ Get live updates on projects I'm casting
✨ Submit directly for roles (instead of relying solely on catching casting calls via socials)
For those of you who may be new here…
My name is Dinah and I'm the owner of Cine-Casting. Some of you may recognize me from my work on NBC's Chicago PD and Chicago Med, but for those who don't, here's a little about me🙂
I'm originally from the Boston area, where I got my start in casting at Boston Casting working under some of the best casting directors I've ever had the privilege to learn from. It was there, in "intern alley," that my passion for extras casting truly blossomed and followed me all the way to Chicago.
When I moved here, my goal was simple - build real relationships with both the background community and productions so that I could contribute to making the casting process smoother for everyone involved in the craft. Over time, that goal grew into something much more personal and ultimately led me to create Cine-Casting. Cine-Casting became a place where I could share background casting resources with both the BG community and anyone in the overall Chicago community that expressed interest in the film/TV industry.
At its heart, Cine-Casting exists to educate and demystify the booking process, especially for people who are new to the film/TV industry. My hope has always been to create a resource that helps talent feel confident, prepared and proud of the work they end up doing on set.
Launching Cine-Casting.app feels like the natural next step in that mission.
I'm still in the early stages of developing the database so projects will likely take a little time to roll in. In the meantime, I'll be focusing on getting everyone set up with a talent profile so that when the time comes, you'll all be ready to submit for work.
⚠️ An important distinction I’d like to make as we head into another season of filming: while I am a part of the BG casting team for NBC’s Chicago PD and Chicago Med, Cine-Casting is my own personal platform (and passion project 🥰) that operates as a separate entity from the OneChicago shows.
