TONIGHT & TOMORROW! We’re so excited to finally share MUJERES ❤️ Huge thanks to Sharon Hoyer for Newcity Stage and this wonderful interview with P/M founder and artistic director Stephanie Martinez about the collaboration on PARA.MAR Dance Theatre’s first -ever full-length ballet.

Long championing the creative power of Latina women, the company's evening-length work is inspired by Chilean poet, journalist and diplomat Gabriela Mistral.

MEET THE COLLABORATORS | GIGI & ANTONIA ❤️

GIGI DAHILL-FACHEL | Composer

We’re thrilled to welcome emerging composer Gigi Dahill-Fuchel () to MUJERES — a dynamic New York–based artist whose work seamlessly bridges choreography, performance, and original music composition.

A Ballet Hispánico alum and graduate of George Mason University School of Dance, Gigi is a frequent collaborator with choreographers and founder of Beats Per Movement— a modern composition studio creating intentional, inspired music deeply connected to movement.

ANTONIA CONTRO | Visual Artist

We’re honored to highlight artist  Antonia Contro (https://antoniacontro.com/about.html) (), an acclaimed and widely exhibited artist, and creative muse and collaborator to PARA.MAR and Adrianna Desier Durantt, whose expansive body of work has deeply informed the visual and conceptual terrain of MUJERES.

Artist Antonia Contro’s work explores time, language, movement, light, and shadow. Contro artfully challenges perceptions of “ordinary” and overlooked objects to reveal deeper meaning and unexpected ways of seeing them.

With MUJERES, PARA.MAR responds to her themes and imagery as a natural companion in shaping the production’s visual language.

“When women are the storytellers, the story is different” — Stephanie Martinez, PARA.MAR Dance Theatre founder and director.

What a beautiful article from Chicago Reader’s Kerry Reid with a lovely feature on P/M founder and artistic director Stephanie Martinez and our upcoming MUJERES at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts.

Thank you for seeing how Chicago “Women dance leaders emphasize collaboration, community, and empathy.” 💜

Women in Chicago dance are shaping the field by creating new works and fostering new generations of artists onstage and off.

Explore the many portraits of these women – and the poet herself – through a shifting terrain of myth, memory, and reflection.

MUJERES moves through shared themes of identity, resilience, belonging, and longing — unfolding as a ritual that reveals the many selves a woman carries, abandons, and reclaims across time.

Seriously, book those tickets — they’re going fast!

YOU (yes, YOU! 🤩) can help P/M remove barriers to experiencing dance — and invite 200 community members and organizations to MUJERES.

We’re just over one week into our crowdfund campaign and already nearly 70% of the way to our goal — let’s get the rest of the way there together, with, and for (PARA) Community Access.

Your support helps make dance more accessible to those who may not always see themselves reflected in arts spaces.

Plus, there are SO many fun and exclusive benefits to supporting COMMUNITY ACCESS tickets to MUJERES — including your own tickets to the show! 🤩

If you’re able, consider a $30, $50, or even $100 gift to JOIN US in the belief that access is inclusion — and inclusion is community.

Let’s do this! 💜

With gratitude,
ALL of us at P/M
