Life imitated art as the cast of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE visited Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” at The Art Institute of Chicago! A huge thank you to Block Club Chicago and the AIC team for making such a dream come true. 🖼️🎨

“I remember seeing it as a child, and it looked so big,” said Lauren Miller, who plays Seurat’s mother.

“I fell in love with the [Sunday] score, and it’s what actually made me move to Chicago,” said Missy Wise Vanderzee, who’s now playing Dot. “I came to see the painting and then fell in love with the city.”

Sondheim in Chicago. Our favorite. So many possibilities. 🤩🎉

The entire cast of the Kokandy company’s play now running at the Chopin Theatre went to the museum to view the iconic painting that inspired the musical.
