We practice burlesque

as a pathway toward understanding ourselves more deeply.
Because our pleasure is sacred.
We practice burlesque because some of us are learning how to take up space again.
How to play again.
We practice burlesque because being in relationship with our bodies is an everyday ritual.
We practice burlesque as a way of tending to our erotic spirit, learning how to be fully present with ourselves, our bodies, and our desire.

Shoulder to shoulder.
Sprawled across the floor.
Tea in hand.
Sometimes we pause mid-sentence to process. Sometimes we sit quietly, letting the words settle.
We read because Black feminist texts offer language for living, loving, accountability, and staying in relationship across difference.

This Thursday, The Reading Room returns as we continue our inquiry into Love & Difference with “Revolutionary Hope: A Conversation Between Audre Lorde & James Baldwin”.
