Wilson Abbey Advent Windows Week 2 Day 14
Advent is a season of HOPE & PEACE

NEW ADDITION...This beautiful piece just arrived from Richmond, Virginia, by artist Blue Stubblefield. Blue was inspired by her dear friends photograph of her daughter, being captivated by the sheer joy of a little girl fully immersed in nature.
What if we could see how vital it is for us, for our progeny to know the value, the redemptive power and beauty of this earth, our home?
"It is the right and should be the reality of every child; clean air, water and access to green spaces. Environmental inequality is an ugly truth sickening the most marginalized and vulnerable in our world. My hope is that the voices of these communities- Louisiana’s cancer alley, the uranium exposed Navajo Nation, Appalachian coal country and countless others- would be heard, justice be done and healing take place." --Blue Stubblefield

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst forth into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12

Advent is the season of Hope
Shaina Stewarts depiction of Nativity Angels reminds us of how often these messengers appear in the Nativity story. How do people respond...fearfully, apprehensive, in awe? Imagine yourself in any of those scenes. How would you react?

Advent is the season of HOPE!
Artist Stefanie Kate helps us to consider... What if our inner-child was seen and valued.

"Before the world told us how to belong, who to be and how to live, we belonged divinely to ourselves. We were playful, messy, inquisitive, fully engaged with ourselves and the world around us. We painted in all the colors of the rainbow, not just the ones we learned we were supposed to. This essence still inhabits us, still wants to be seen and heard. Reconnecting with this is joyful, difficult and sacred work. In painting this piece I wanted to remind myself and others to be bold and brave with this one wild and precious life. Remember yourself at your wildest."
-Stefanie Kate

The season of Advent, the season of HOPE.
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great: those who dwelt in a land of darkness, on them has light shone."
The title of this years Wilson Abbey Windows is...
"The Soul Felt It's Worth"
We are asking the question, what is like for people to be seen? People who society has made invisible, or we don't know how to see them because its hard to understand them.
