Yesterday's pantuflas recording brought to mind the question: what's the weirdest thing I've ever been asked to record? There have been a fair few, but the one that sticks out is a session I did back 1998, when I was an assistant engineer at The Complex in West L.A.

I was on a session with the legendary Mike Watt, and he was recording a song called "Sidemousin' the B**g" for a benefit compilation for NORML; at one point, Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction) walked in with a gym bag, inside of which was a large glass b**g (about knee-high)... I was then informed that we were going to record him doing b**g rips at the end of each chorus, and I was charged with selecting a mic and setting it up (I went with an AKG C-414). He performed the task with the degree of professionalism one would generally associate with an artist of his caliber. ✌️☘️🔥
