My brain operates in standard 16:9, but every once in a while, a scene demands the full cinematic anamorphic treatment.

The fun (and challenge) of composing an ultrawide frame is that you can’t rely on a single subject. You have to direct an entire ecosystem. In this shot, intentionally leveraging urban reflections lets multiple independent human stories play out in a single view, the walking commute, the quiet phone call, the background symmetry.

It takes a bit of post-production magic and a lot of patience to spot these wide-format moments with the naked eye. But once you start looking for reflections with intent, the city basically turns into a film set.

How do you challenge your creative vision when you’re stuck in a routine frame?

This image probably won’t rack up likes or gain followers. That’s not the point.

Photography isn’t always about chasing the obvious shot. Sometimes it’s about training your eye to see shapes, lines, textures, and light where most people see nothing at all.

A few steps back, this becomes a familiar Chicago scene: skyscrapers, bridges, traffic, and thousands of people moving through their day. But the exercise was to remove the noise and simplify the chaos. To isolate geometry from a city that rarely sits still.

Every frame doesn’t need to be a masterpiece. Some frames are practice. Some frames teach you how to see.

Keep shooting. Keep experimenting. Keep learning.

Crimson Echoes 🌆❤️

The red boots. The red fence. The glow of the evening light bouncing through the scene and wrapping everything in a soft, dreamlike haze.

Shot along the river near Chinatown, with Chicago quietly watching from the distance.
