This is interesting (but maybe not Instagram visually interesting.)
The town of Herculaneum was buried at the same time as Pompeii. (79AD) There are plenty of surviving wall frescos in both towns. However in Herculaneum there are many fascinating examples of the underlying line work the artists used as guides when originally painting the frescos. This line work was exposed in areas where the frescos detached from the wall during (and after) the eruption.
